Be the Difference (BtD) is a foundation and non-profit organisation that was started in 2014 by Granthem Abrahams in Kraaifontein. The foundation focuses on youth development, uplifting children from areas ravaged by drugs, gangsterism and violence through sport, nutrition, education and social programmes. He says, “For us, it’s not only about growing young talent on the sports field, but we also want to enable and empower these kids to succeed in the classroom, and in life.”

The Amdec Group, is the proud title sponsor of the BtD’s Elite Sevens rugby squad named the Amdec Blitz. Since 2014, the BtD elite squad has managed to secure 45 full scholarships to top SA schools and tertiary institutions for members of the squad. That is a ticket out of poverty and a pass to a bright future for not only the individual children but often also their families and communities.
